So I'm super close to the weekend. I think I'm going to leave work early. I have nothing interesting on my mind today--- nothing to contribute here at Deloitte. I have spent a great deal of this week attempting to change my name. I've gotten my name changed on my social security card, and this morning I spent about an hour at the DMV. My new license picture is hideous. I look drugged and stupid (ahem, no comments please). I never fully realized until this week what a hassle it is to change your name. Perhaps I should have taken after the Koreans and kept my old name. The kids still take their father's name, so no harm is done and you don't have to worry about calling every organization you have EVER given your name to and requesting a name change. Eh, oh well, I talked to a sweet little old woman named Dorothy while on the phone with American Airlines. That was pretty cool--- my grandma's name is Dorothy.
So I'm not sure what Nate and I will do this weekend. No visitors, no plans for any trips. I have started the book, "Memoirs of a Geisha", that is quite good. Maybe I'll just read? Nah, Nate will never have that : )
I guess I could ramble about our trip to the Shenandoah valley. A couple of weekends ago Nate and I drove there. About a two hour trek from DC. We stayed in a campground in the National Park with no showers---argh! So anyhow, we drove up on Saturday morning and spent the majority of Saturday at two different wineries and a cavern. At night we cooked pizza pies over our cute little fire, and went to bed early. Sunday morning we woke up early, made scrambled egg and cheese pies (oh and I fried bacon with a fork... not as easy as it sounds), then went hiking on the Mary's Rock trail. It was practically straight up. I thought I would die. Nate claims he never was tired--- I'm convinced he's lying : ) But once we reached the rock the view was gorgeous--- hawks were flying through the low hills and mountains, and the valley stretched out to small towns in the distance. I loved it. We stayed up there for quite a while. After treking back down, we left the park and headed home. I won't go into detail about our adventure, but we ended up picking 3.5 lbs of cherries at a "U-Pick" at the top of a very large mountain. I drive a Civic with the engine of a lawn mower... that's all I have to say about that.
Good times, have a great weekend.
