June 4, 2008. Italian dinner, early to bed!

Our anniversary this year showcased one of the things we've learned through our three years of marriage. Nate booked a restaurant for our dinner, a surprise for me. He booked it at this incredibly expensive place (because he thought that would be what I wanted). Somehow I guessed which restaurant he had chosen and asked him why he chose it. He replied that he thought I would enjoy the nice view, and appreciate that he was willing to spend so much money on me.
I told him that the anniversary was supposed to be about both of us, not just me. So we canceled the pricey dinner and ate at a local Italian restaurant we found in our City guidebook. It had four stars for the food, and it certainly earned all of those stars. We started off with a tomato based, bean, bacon, and mussels soup. Delicious! Nate's main dish was salmon in a cream, mushroom sauce. Mine was tortellini stuffed with cheese and spinach, in a butter and sage sauce. Both were incredible. We sat outside, along a busy road. The neighbors were blasting gangster rap and yelling at each other from the windows. But, about half way through dinner it started to rain (pour really). The awning came out, and we sat alone... enjoying a quiet, romantic dinner that was just what we both wanted.
