Enough, you say, enough of these "cooking show" posts! Well, too bad loyal reader! As long as I am "building my nest," as the Germans say, I will keep posting pictures of my cooking/baking attempts.
Today's try comes again from the Smitten Kitchen. This time her Majestic and Moist Honey Cake. If you don't get around to reading her post, this is a cake traditionally made at the Jewish New Year.
I did make a couple of changes from the recipe. Since I didn't have any whiskey laying around the house, I took her suggestion and just added an extra quarter cup of the strong tea (mistake perhaps?). I also baked the cake in a normal 9x13 cake pan.
And, look! S.O.S. --- S.O.S. --- We're sinking, we're sinking!

I don't know why my cake decided to sink in the middle, and the middle just decide not to cook at ALL. But, in the end, the edges and semi-middle tasted heavenly. Kind-of like pumpkin bread or banana bread, but without the pumpkin or banana. Or like pumpkin bread with a big dab of honey on top.

I'm sure a better cook than I could figure it out!

Steph,
I think when it sinks it usually means that it wasn't done in the middle or you used baking soda instead of baking powder or vise versa. I made some brownies once where i put the opposite of what it called for my mistake and it would never get done. It looked good though what was done. Keep it up!! Love, Mom
Hey all you Steph blog readers, I was there last weekend, and she fed me some GOOD cake! She's pretty good, and provides an excellent change from hotels and restaurant food!
Love Dad
