I've had a few cooking flops. First was this, an Indian recipe I found in a vegetarian cookbook. It took a while to make everything (had to start soaking the beans a day in advance) and in the end was rather bland and boring. Boo! Then I converted another vegetarian recipe, this time for enchiladas into a semi-meat recipe. Once again, lots of potential... several veggies, beans, a 1/2 pound of hamburger, but ended up not having the "zip" that I would have liked. Interestingly enough, on the third day the flavors did round out a bit and it was delicious as a chip dip. Maybe the lesson here is that I shouldn't consult vegetarian cookbooks for recipes?!

Our birthing house gave us a "material list" for the birth. I have been faithfully compiling these items throughout the last months. Outside of an 80x80cm pillow cover, I think we are finally ready to go. Well, I'm not sure if my placenta will fit in the 3 liter plastic bag I purchased, but really it's the best I can do. Never imagined taking home the placenta. Never. Ever.

Even our car seat is ready to go. Now if only the baby will cooperate as nicely as Mr. Valentine Bear.
