Health Report

In the early morning of the 15th (like 3am) I took my temperature and noticed that I had a fever. We told the midwife about it in the morning and she said it was probably because my milk had come in. She said that it was very normal and that it would go away in 24 hours.

The morning of the 16th the temperature was very low (99 degrees F) so we figured that the worst was over. As the day rolled along I was busy taking care of little squirt and didn't really notice how hot and achy I was feeling. Finally I took my temp again and discovered that it was back up to 101. The midwife swung by and helped out with a few things (I won't go into detail, as some people probably aren't interested in the life and times of my front upper half). We were hoping that with this "help" the fever would go away.

Fast forward to yesterday, the 17th, my 28th birthday. I can't remember the chain of events exactly, but my fever was between 103 and 104 the entire day. The midwife came back over and called up my doctor. She got me an appointment at 4:30. Nate, Elena, and I took a taxi to the doctor and I was diagnosed with a breast infection. I got some antibiodics and some "milk reducer" pills. The midwife has already suggested that I take on a neglected child from an orphanage as a wet nurse, but I declined : )

I took one antibiotic pill last night before dinner, and one at 7:30am today. Yes, that is 7:30am because my dearly beloved daughter did not sleep from 2:30 until 8:00 this morning! I think I am running on pure adrenaline, as I have updated my Facebook account and written a blog on about 4 very interrupted hours of sleep! Well, I also wanted to give my hubby a chance to sleep. He has a very bad cold and is exhausted.

So here we are, infected wife and sniffling blowing husband, trying to find our way through the murky waters of new parenthood. Despite all of this stuff, we still melt when she makes her cute little faces. Good thing she's adorable!

So glad you're feeling a little better - I would also comment that this (may) not be the only time Elena causes you a little sleeplessness.... yo Daddy,
