It Seems

It seems that I have run out of really interesting things to say... perhaps life has not been too interesting.

On Friday night we hosted a Reverend and his wife for the night. They were in town for a conference and needed a place to stay. They got to our house around 10pm, and Nate and I were already wilting and ready for bed! Ha! They had more energy than us, and I believe that they are in their 60s. Hmmmm.... so we scooped up what energy we had left and chatted for about an hour before turning in. It was nice to chat with them, hear about their travels, their town, church, etc.

We got up early on Saturday and fed them breakfast, and then had our usual relaxed Saturday morning. I personally had the most wonderful Saturday. Nate took Elena out to the hardware store, so I had around two hours to putz around the house without a baby at my hip. It was SO nice. I mostly just sat at the kitchen table, munching, reading a magazine. My lunch-time was always one of my most favorite parts of the day (pre-Elena). I would cook up a nice lunch and then sit at the table for hours, reading. Not good for my waistline, but I did read a lot of good books. So now, hurried lunches eating while baby is napping, or sitting my lap, aren't quite the same. I was so grateful for Nate taking her, so that I could recapture one of my favorite activities.

Nate purchased a bunch of items for cleaning mold out of our apartment (while at the hardware store), and then Jeff and Abby came over to help eradicate the mold. Well, Jeff helped... Elena, Abby, and I took a nice long walk in the stroller. It was rejuvenating, sunny and cold. When the mold-scraping and repainting was done we went to dinner at a yummy little family-style German place. The owner's wife really enjoyed Elena, and the food was great.

So, I guess for not having much to say, I did write quite a bit. Probably boring enough to put you to sleep, but that's about all that goes on in our lives these days!

In the more entertaining category, here are a couple of videos sure to put a smile on your face. Last night Elena was being grumpy, so Jeff took her and started making "noises" at her. You can imagine our surprise and delight when she started responding to his noises. It was hysterical. I think we have finally found true 'baby language'.

This first video is only interesting in the very beginning. It shows how Elena responds to Jeff's "talking".

This video shows off Elena giggling for her second person ever. I don't think I mentioned it on my blog, but Elena giggled for the first time on March 6th (my Dad's 50th birthday!). I thought it was a fluke, but I kept doing what I was doing, and she kept giggling. It was so cute. I thought my heart was going to burst with pride. I can't imagine what will happen when she takes her first step!
