Jealousy

So last night Nate came up to me and gave me a hug, and then decided to hold on and dance a bit. I looked over and saw Elena giving us 'the eye'. She just couldn't decide what was going on with her parents. I started laughing and scooped her up in my arms.

Nate thought it would be the perfect time for an experiment. We sat Elena back down on the floor again and started hugging. Once again we got 'the eye', but my husband, being the man that he is, decided to push Elena a bit farther. He leaned in for a kiss, and sure enough, fireworks!

Elena started crying and ran frantically towards me. Nate scooped her up, and she kept crying, all the while leaning for me. Being the enabler that I am, I snatched her from Nate and comforted her poor little hurt feelings.

Now, I did find this cute, but a bit disturbing. Are Nate and I that 'in-affectionate' now that Elena has been born? Hugs and kisses were quite normal around our house before the babe came along. Perhaps we need to reinstate them as the norm, because at least for now, it makes Mama feel good when her baby gets jealous.
