Happy Birthday beautiful Elena!

I have a lot of videos from Elena's birthday, but I got a little long-winded with my video taping and so I won't post any of them on the blog.  I think it would probably take me an hour just to upload one video.  No patience = no video for you.  Sorry!

I won't, however, leave you completely hanging.  A week or so ago (okay I really can't remember when) my dear little Annika started crawling.  It's really humorous to watch.  Poor little child limps along, dragging her 'gimpy' leg behind her.  But man does she ever get where she wants to go : )  I absolutely love it.  She also is pulling herself up on things, leading to falls and screaming, but once again, I love it.  I love watching her gain her independence.  It makes her happy, which in turn makes me happy.

Maybe I should talk a bit more about Elena's birthday?  On Friday night, Auntie Sheila kept Max, Nora, and Elena over night at her house.  I'm pretty sure that Max watched movies the whole time while the girls ran around screeching... until 11pm.  Seriously!  Auntie Sheila, bedtime is 8:30pm!!!  The next day we had planned to go to the Civic Center and attend a dinosaur exhibition.  When I met a seriously tired Elena at 10:30am, I knew that a dinosaur exhibit would be a terrible idea.  She nearly started crying just seeing a man walking around in a dinosaur suit.  Yeah.  Fraidy cat = Elena.  So instead we went to a Christmas benefit, otherwise known as people trying to get you to spend more money on things you really don't need.  We paid money for the kids to pet a reindeer (Nora and Elena cried.... variation on a theme), but otherwise I kept my pocketbook under control.

I took a screaming Elena back to the car and after a nap we ended out the night by hanging out with Mom and Dad B.  As always, we had a nice time.

On Sunday (December 11th, the real birthday!!!) we decided to take Elena to Mom and Dad's church.  We figured that she'd rather be with her grandparents and cousins (people she knows) on her birthday, so we left on a whim and made it to church mostly on time.  After church and naps the fam got together for a nice dinner.  We had chocolate cake with chocolate frosting AND pink cupcakes, per a certain little lady's request.  Gifts, gifts, gifts, then we went to church to watch Max sing in his very first Christmas program.  Home again home again, eat an orange, and the birthday girl went to bed, still in her very pink ball gown.

Happy Birthday my wonderful little lady.  You are growing up so fast, and it is a pleasure and a privilege to be your Mommy.

Note:  If you'd like to see pictures from the big day, my dearly beloved bro and sis in law took a few.  Check out Greg & Mary's blog to see the pics!
