As seen, from my iPhone, two of the cutest kids in town.
She's pretty much a little princess in every way, and I love it. Except when I have to play Malificent and the mean Step-mother and the ugly Step-sister and the mean Queen. You get the picture.
We went camping with Greg and Mary, and their kids. And it was awesome. We stayed at a campground near Starved Rock state park, and did not much but relax and try to wear out the kids. The next day we got up, ate a yummy breakfast, and then took down the tent/camper. Annika was napping inside the tent, and didn't wake up when Nate moved her outside the tent. She stayed asleep another 15 minutes while the kids ran around yelling. That fresh air works wonders, I tell ya! After we rolled out, we headed down the road to Matthiesson state park (the better of the parks, in my opinion), and hiked the 'upper dells' trail. I haven't been there since I was a kid, and I'm telling you, this is one place that lived up to my memory of it. How often does that happen? Max, Elena, and Nora had a blast running through the river, throwing rocks, and generally misbehaving. And Annika, well, Nate had her in the backpack most of the time, because I'm convinced that she would have gone cliff diving, if we let her. She rocks.
So we came home and settled back into everyday life. And lucky for us, everyday life includes our neighbors. 'Little Buddy' loves running on that big deck and swinging on the swing. I have a feeling that as she ages, I'll find her running over there more and more. Watch out Marilyn!
