Well, if you didn't know, I took a new job. I turned in my two weeks notice last Thursday. I think my last day at Deloitte will be the 20th of October. Crazy. I have been very sentimental and sad lately. Mostly because I have some great co-workers, and as they work crazy hours, I probably won't be seeing them much after I quit. I also am a bit sad because I do enjoy the work that I am doing, I just don't like doing it 70+ hours a week.
My new job is for a small local firm. They do a lot of work for expatriates (a lot of individual taxation), but I'll also be doing some corporate, partnership, and maybe even some estate and trust taxation. I am promised a short work week, and only one busy season. Apparently that busy season is only 50-60 hours a week, which I can handle.
In other unrelated news, my parents just got back from a weekend up in Minnesota with Nate's parents. Yeah, our parents are hanging out without us there... interesting, eh? Well, we were supposed to be there, but I worked Saturday and Sunday of last weekend so the trip didn't work out for us. They apparently had a great time. My family had their first taste of, as my Dad put it, "Rock Church". The band at Nate's family's church is very loud : ) Not quite the four-part accapella harmony hymn sings that my fam is used to. But they handled it well I am told. They also went boating down the Croix river, which makes me very jealous [that's the blended fam in the hottub].
BUT my weekend was still awesome. On Saturday night Nate and I went down to the DC Festival. It was pouring down rain. The National mall was covered in mud, like two inches of mud and water. BUT, the shows still went on!!! When we arrived Kutless played, then Luis Palau preached the gospel message.... and then.... dum dum dum dum da.... KIRK FRANKLIN!!!!!! Oh man, I was going crazy!!! I love that man!!! The concert was amazing, followed up by a really long Tobymac concert that was also really cool. We jumped and yelled so much that my throat hurt. I didn't notice the rain, or the mud until I got home. That's when the cold started to seep in my bones and I snuggled under the covers shivering. What a great night. Free concerts and a chance to dance around in the rain in front of the Nation's Capitol. What more could a girl ask for?
