Hey there everyone! I am back with yet another exciting addition of "My Life"... You know, I've been getting a lot of questions as to what my blog name means... Here is the answer.
Lieben = love (in German)
Paz = peace (in Spanish)
Joie = joy (in French)
Not so profound, eh?
I had a great weekend. Friday night we helped Jeff and Abby paint their new apartment. I (as usual) ended up with paint all over me, while Nate (as usual) hardly had a splotch, despite the fact that he did much more painting than I did.
Saturday we slept in. Nate helped Jeff and Abby move into their new place (hauled the heavy stuff) and I tried to get an X-ray. We ate lunch at this little local Italian joint. It was quite tasty. Then Nate and I went on an artwork search. We have yet to put any artwork in our living room, and it's quite bare. On the way to the mall we drove by the library and saw that they were having a book sale! Yay! We stopped. We ended up with a huge bag full of books, and we only paid $9. Actually our bill rang up to $13, but as we picked through our wallets we realized we only had $9. As we were about to decide which book to leave out, the sweet little old lady selling the books said "don't worry about it honey, these books were all donated anyway." Excellent!
We're going with an "African" theme in our living room, well kinda of... We found this awesome picture called "Kenya" by Emmerich. Only problem is that the print alone costs $80. Getting it transferred to canvas can put it up in the $300 range. Yikes! So Nate went to work researching, and found this Canadian company that would do the whole thing for $140. Their website says something to the tune of "We might be breaking U.S. law, but we're Canadian, so who cares!". Just the kind of company I enjoy doing business with.
Saturday night we went to a Washington Capitals (CAPS) game. A co-worker gave me the tickets and a free parking pass. Let's just say that the tickets cost $56 a piece, and parking was $20. We were in the 6th row! Right behind the goalie. It was awesome! They skate a lot faster and are more accurate than the dear old Peoria Rivermen! After the game we walked down to the Vietnam Memorial, then sat on the Lincoln Memorial for a while talking. It was a beautiful night. So neat to be sitting on the steps on history.
In unrelated news, I have a job offer that I am contemplating. I need to make a decision by the end of this week.... argh!
