Well I had some great pictures from this weekend to upload, but I can't figure out how to do it on this other computer, so I'll just tell a small story instead.
My parents and sister Katy came into town this weekend. We headed to the Shenandoah Valley for the weekend. After about a 2.5 hour drive we came to our Bed and Breakfast. My parents stay at these places all the time, but I never had before. The house looked to be built in the 1700's. It was so quaint. They decorated it all Victorian like. I loved it!
The majority of the time in the Valley we spent hiking in the National Park. Although the colors are not spectacular this year, just the expanse of trees and hills made the trip worthwhile. The first day we hiked down to a waterfall. When we got there a cloud had rolled in and we couldn't see it. Aye! So we hiked back up. It was worth it though, very beautiful scenery along the trail. We even saw this huge black and yellow spider. Dad threw a leaf in its web and we watched it inspect the leaf, decide that it wasn't food, and cast it on the ground. Awesome.
We ate at the local Italian place for dinner. I had a chicken dish, with lobster ravioli for a side. Quite good. We played games up in my parents' room the rest of the night. The next day we headed back to the park for some more climbing. I must say that my parents are quite the troopers. My Dad has been hurt, in fact he can hardly feel from his waist down. But despite that, we all hiked up the most rigorous climb I have done recently. It involved climbing up rocks, scraping down rocks, and coming dangerously close to huge drop-offs. The 360 degree view at the top was worth it. Dinner that night was at a local steak and seafood place. I had the catfish, and it was the best I've had.
All in all, it was a great family bonding weekend. Even though my other siblings weren't there, we still had a great time.
This week I am unemployed. Today I slept in until 10:30. Yeah, count that up, 12 hours of sleep. I feel great!!! Tonight my gospel choir is singing somewhere in DC. We get to wear the purple robes and sway. Oh yeah!
Yesterday I made chicken salad. I followed some of what my Mom said, some of what a book said, and some of just my own creative genius (ha ha). It was better than my first try. I think by the time I get 40 I might just be a good cook.
Out.
