I guess I am getting a bit behind with my blogging. I've just been busy getting used to a new job.
Well last weekend was quite nice. Friday night Nate and I cooked dinner for Jeff and Abby. We grilled a london broil. Then we all went down to the rock climbing gym. I had a great time. I climbed a couple of 5.7's pretty easily so I was happy. Then we went to a diner a few blocks down for some oh so delicious eggs and waffles. Ahhh, nothing like stuffing your belly full of fatty food before heading to bed!
On Saturday Nate and I woke up early and took the Honda into the shop. We decided to do the Honda 60K preventative maintenance to the old girl. She's actually at 160k, but oh well! We got the timing belt and water pump replaced, and they drained and put in new transmission and brake fluid. The car does seem to run more smoothly now, which is good because Nate wants to drive it home for the Holidays. Ugh!
After dropping off the car we met up with a friend of mine from Deloitte and his wife. We drove out to Monticello in Charlottesville, VA. Monticello is Thomas Jefferson's plantation. It was beautiful. Monticello means little mountain in Italian. The plantation is up on a little mountain. On one side you can see out over a valley, and on the other side you can see another huge hill with a house at the top of it. The trees were starting to change color. Gorgeous! We walked around the grounds, admired the vegetables and grape vines, and then took a tour through the house [The picture is of myself hugging a huge tree beside the mansion]. After the house tour we headed off for Richmond. Another friend of mine who left Deloitte moved to Richmond a few months ago. We went to her and her husband's apartment for supper and a night of games. We played Cranium and Canasta. It was a great time. All in all I think we drove about 5 - 6 hours that day!
On Sunday we went to church and relaxed a lot. I wanted to relax before starting my new job!
So far I am really liking my job. I've been doing a lot of tax research, writing memos, etc. I also prepared an income tax return and have been getting ahold of clients to set up tax planning meetings. I have suddenly been thrown into a position of responsibility and it's a bit scary, but fun too! I need to figure out a better way of saying "I Don't Know!" to make me sound intelligent. Maybe I should say, "I'd have to do more research on that subject and get back to you!"
: )
