Happy Birthday to Me!

Hi there blog-landers. I think I made that word up.

So today I turned 26. I've been told that once a woman turns 30 she stops announcing her age. I guess I have a few more years to go.

It's been a great weekend. Friday started... well... interestingly. I was working quite diligently until about 11 when my coworkers came in and mentioned that our new manager was starting work on Monday. Where, they asked, will he be sitting? That question led to a 3 hour foray into office decorating. At least three of us moved offices, and we all acquired "new" furniture (furniture switching!). So, needless to say, at 3 when I got back to work, I had a lot to do and no time left. I worked until 7:30, and then Nate met me (and my co-worker Marivi) out near work for dinner at Logan's Roadhouse. I got a very yummy filet with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Mmmmm!

Saturday we left at 7:30am for Whitetail Ski Resort. First ski trip of the season!!! And, more importantly, first ski trip with my new skis. We went down a couple little "bunny" hills and I wasn't feeling very confident. But then, because everyone else was bored, we went to the BIG green hill. Well, I think it's big. My first trip down was horrible. I was frightened again, and thought that if I never skied again I could be a very happy person. But on the second trip down something just clicked and I started skiing better than ever before (and actually enjoying it somewhat). I think I am such a Beutel. I started making up little songs to help myself relax, and pretty soon I forgot that I was going down a steep hill on little wooden sticks built to destroy me!!!! One such song went to the tune of the Gilligan's Island theme.

Relax, Relax, Relax my friend
You are having fun
You love to ski AND
You are almost done!

I may have generated strange looks, but it helped!

We skied more in one day than I probably did in 2 trips last season.

After skiing we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and ate piles of barbecued wings. Oh delicious!

That night Jeff, Abby, Nate, and I ate spaghetti, exchanged Christmas gifts, and watched a movie. Very relaxing.

Now, to my birthday! We are having some friends over tonight to celebrate. Nate is making me Swedish meatballs, chocolate cake with my Momma's minute fudge frosting, and ice cream!

Thanks to all who helped to make my birthday weekend special. 26 isn't too bad so far!
