Well Mom asked me to write a quick blog about our weekend, so I'll do it quickly here.
On Friday I met Nate at his office in Vaihingen and sat reading a book while he worked until 7pm. Ugh. We then started walking towards a little German restaurant. As we walked past our favorite Cafe 24 we saw the owner and his friend sitting outside. So, we never made it to the German place. We sat outside in the cool air talking and drinking some delicious German bier! After about an hour the owner's friend got hungry, so he waved over the owner of the Italian restaurant across the street and she took our orders and brought over some food. Service at its best!!! We hung out talking until late at night. What a fun, random night!!!
On Saturday, I got up and met Nate's coworker (Cris) and her friend Christina for a girls' day out. We went to Breuningerland (a small indoor mall) and shopped around for swimsuits and nothing else in particular. It was really fun to go shopping!! It had been a while since I'd been able to shop with women, and I realized how much more fun it is than shopping with Nate! We then drove over to a little cafe for lunch. I had a tomato creme soup for starters, and then a nice quiche. Yum! It was nice to have something light instead of those heavy German meals!!!
Afterwards we went to a little salon to get pedicures and manicures. It just so happened that this place was also a tattoo and piercing parlor. After I finished getting my toes done (I decided against the manicure) I got a nose piercing!!! Now my mother's mental picture was a 'cow ring' in my nose, so Nate can lead me around... oh no, it's just a little diamond on the side, not terribly noticeable. But I like it.
On Sunday we went to church and then headed up to Ludwigsburg at the invite of Peter and Bettina. We ate a light lunch and then headed over to Peter's parents' (Heinrich and Esther) orchard for some cherry picking. Oh man, nothing is better than being up on a ladder in the middle of a cherry heaven. I think I ate nearly as many as I put into the bucket.
After we got done picking, we sat under the cherry tree and enjoyed some chocolate cherry cake from a previous picking. It was sunny and warm, with a light breeze. Perfect weather for cherry picking and then relaxing. Esther's brother gave us a tour of his little animal kingdom. He raises rabbits and German shepherds, and also quite a few exotic plants. He noticed me checking out one of the plants and deciphered that I liked it. So, he gave me a little plant of my own to take home. Esther also gave us two jars of jam and sent us back to Peter and Bettinas. There we ate a nice, light dinner and then took the bus and S-bahn home.
It really helps having family here. I think it would be much more lonely without their hospitality.
Okay, I hope that was good enough Mom. I will return to writing after Jamaica!
Ciao, baby!

Dear Steph,
Exellent job on the blog!!These must have been sweet cherries not the sour pie ones or you wouldn't have eaten that many I would assume. I can't wait to hear about your trip to Jamacia(?). I hope you will have pictures to post once your internet is up and running. Well, have a great, safe trip. Love, Mom
