Well, we are back in Deutschland. I am really quite glad to be home. I kept meaning to write a blog about our trip to Jamaica but, quite unbelievably, our internet is still not working. It is really hard to write emails and a blog entry each time I make it into an internet cafe. So, whenever we get the internet rolling I will put our pictures up on Kodak Gallery with descriptions. This will save me writing a long entry!
The week in Jamaica was very interesting, and I was calling myself 'Calamity Stephanie' by the end. It seemed that I was always getting myself hurt. First, we were trying to take a picture out on some rocks. I was designated to push the self-timer button and then run onto the rocks. As I did this, my flip flop came off and my toes gashed into the (very) sharp rocks. That was a bit bloody. Later, as I waited to take pictures of Nate in his scuba gear, a fire ant crawled across my eye. I felt a weird feeling on my eye so I went to scratch it, and it bit me. My eye felt like it was literally on fire. A local came over and started pointing a hose at my eye and kept telling me to blink. Blinking is so easy with a water hose gushing at you!!! Afterwards the eye started to swell.
Unfortunately it was my good eye (the right) that was bit, so I asked them to call a doctor. A couple hundred dollars later I had anti-histamine tablets and a cortizone shot in my back section. The cortizone shot was mainly for the hundreds of mosquito bites up and down my legs. And for the sun burn. I was in a lot of pain. They were some sort of special mosquitos I think. The itch was quite different, but still oh so lovely.
I also think Nate stepped on my gashed toes and that my mouth and jaw were quite sore from scuba diving. That in itself is a whole other story. I decided to try scuba diving as my husband loves it and wanted to do it with me. Well, I suppose we weren't meant to do everything together. I was crying like a baby in the swimming pool when the instructor took me under the water.... aye, so claustrophobic! BUT, I did end up getting good enough to go out on a dive. It took three tries to get me down about 40 feet underwater, and I made the instructor hold my hand the whole time. Despite my fears, we did get to see a cool, huge puffer fish and the softest sea-cucumber I have ever touched.
We got back in Germany on Friday, and on Saturday we took the bus out to IKEA and spent about three hours there. We came back with light fixtures of all types... yes folks, Nate and I now own a chandelier... I have decided that we have a strange taste in decorating, but that's okay!
On Monday our washing\drying machine combo was delivered. I spoke some German to the men (very proud of myself), but was dumb enough to let them leave before I realized that I couldn't close the bathroom door because the machine was too big!!! When Nate came home we moved it all around, and now it is in a strange position (looks kinda bad); however, it is now possible to shower without the neighbors catching a peak.
My main highlight of today was getting up the nerve to go to a fitness studio. I walked in and it looked a bit like a Curves (only for women) studio. After I spoke to the woman at the counter, I realized that it basically is a German version of Curves. Does anyone have an opinion on Curves? Is it a good program? I have a free trial on Thursday. Can't wait to start working out!
If you have the time, please pray that our internet connection would start working. I'm starting to think I will never have it again!!!

Dear Steph,
Get that old chin UP!!!! Just think how many more clothes you can wash with a bigger machine. Of course, it is nice to be able to shut the door I agree. How about some fun parts of Jamaica!! Maybe a little about Gina's wedding. I never did hear how your dress fit. I can't wait to see some of those pics. Hope the internet is soon up and running!! Love ya, Mom
