Weinfest

Stuttgart Wine Village.

On Wednesday night we met some people from Nate's work at the Stuttgart Wine Festival. If you click on the link above, you'll see that the Fest is made up of 120 little restaurants serving regional wine crowded into a couple of squares in downtown Stuttgart.

We had a really fun time. After eating dinner we headed over to a restaurant that featured a roving accordion player. You should have seen the people singing along, getting up and dancing, some misty-eyed (either with nostalgia or too much wine, I'm not quite sure!). I wanted to dance, but alas no-one else was willing.

As the evening rolled along we sat, ate appetizers (grapes, cheese, bread), and drank some sweet wine. But my absolute favorite part of the night had to be the very end. An old man dressed up in a traditional "Schwabisch" outfit came walking through the tent ringing a bell slowly. Every now and then he would pause and dramatically say, "Go home! But don't forget to come back at 11:00 tomorrow, when we open again!"

We'll see you next week sir!
