Two of our friends (one German--the female, one American) in typical "Schwabian" farmer outfits.
Me with my farmer hat.
Nate with his "Mass".
And so ended our first Canstatter Volksfest.
I may not have mentioned that I got a job offer last week. I went to two interviews in Karlsruhe, for an English teacher job, at a company called the Wall Street Institute. Part-time, 15 hours per week, but I'll finally be breaking into the "English as a Second Language" teacher career that I've been wanting to do since college. Yeah baby! [Side note: Yes, I know that paragraph had some of the worst English imaginable in it. And yes, I will be teaching Germans English. Ironic, isn't it?!]
Only downside is that I have to get permission from the local government to actually work here. Tomorrow I'm heading off to the Agentur fuer Arbeit Stuttgart to get myself an application for a work permit. If they reject me, it doesn't matter that I want to teach... I won't be able to. So, we'll see what's in the cards for me. My life of German classes, cooking, and leisure. Or a return (albeit a small one) to the working world.

Congrats on the job offer. Hope things go well with the government approving you. Tell them your maiden name is Beutel, maybe that will help. A good german name. Love, Mom
