Bismarck Tower

I haven't been so diligent about posting. Mostly it has been laziness. You would think that since Nate is not here to distract me, I would have plenty of time for blogging. But, as I mentioned above, laziness has set in. I've eaten little but peanut butter and jelly and cereal since he left. Unless I've gone out for dinner, which has probably happened more than it should! At any rate, life hasn't been too exciting since he left.

Just yesterday I went for a hike with two of my friends. One friend named Nadja, a German, and the other named Pushpa, a South Indian. We hiked up to the Bismarck tower.

These towers were built to honor a past Chancellor of Germany, Otto von Bismarck. My limited understanding is that they were built for two reasons. The first being that you could light a fire on the top of the tower, therefore spreading information about Germany. The second being that the light from the tower was "lighting up" Germany, in more of a figural sense I guess.

The towers are always built up high on a hill, so we had a great view of Stuttgart. A nice bench, some snacks, and conversation were very nice for me.

In other news, I helped with our little ad-hoc choir at St. Catherine's on Sunday. The choir really is more to be like a "song leader" at the A.C. church. Just to aid in the singing. And ad-hoc we really were. We never had a practice, and weren't really sure as to what we should be doing most of the time. But, the singing sounded good, perhaps even better than usual. And it was a joyous occasion to be singing for, on a fine sunny day here in Stuttgart. So fine and sunny and jubilant that I even had a fabulous time talking to the third set of missionaries that stopped me on the street in the last month. Very sweet girls on such a sweet day.
