Baby Prep

Last weekend we decided to get off our lazy rears and actually start organizing our apartment for the arrival of the baby. It was a lot of work, but fun. At least I had fun. I won't ask Nate for a comment.

For those of you that knew what our apartment looked like before, you can see the changes!

The living room has been converted into a baby room. Well, I guess technically the baby's stuff is going to be spread about the apartment. This is what happens when you don't have so much space. But we're trying to save money by keeping our apartment small and just moving things around. We'll see how it goes!

Another view of the living room. You can see that we haven't rehung the paintings yet. They are aligned still with the old set-up.

Just a look into the kitchen via the living room. We moved the piano into the living room to create space in the study/baby changing area and clothing storage area!

A view of our converted "junk dresser" into a photo album and baby clothes storage dresser.

The computer area of the study cleaned up. Nate spent hours making the study as wire/cable free as possible. I love it! We still have a long way to go until we have everything just the way we like it. But we feel better now that we've made a good start.

Speaking of the baby, so many good things are coming up. This Saturday is the baby shower, next Wednesday (17th) is my next midwife appointment, and then next Friday (19th) is our next ultrasound.

I need your help my dear readers. I've created a poll (right under the About Me section of the blog) asking your opinion on whether or not we should find out the gender of the baby. There are three answers. The first two are easy, yes or no, but the third is just asking if we should let the baby decide... meaning that if the baby decides to cooperate and show us the gender, then we know... or if the baby refuses to show us, then we won't know. Easy as that.

Help! [Currently Nate is leaning towards not knowing at all (he cast the first "no" vote), I'm not sure if I want to know, a few others-- who will remain nameless of course- desperately want to know!] Note: I think you can only have one vote per IP address, so chose your vote carefully (each family member can't vote separately)!

It looks quite nice the way you set it up. Look forward to being there to see a little one in the crib. How fun for Grandma!! Love, Mom B.

Looks very cool! Soon you will have baby stuff strewn all over your house and wonder if you will every have a organized house again! Worth every minute of it though. I love Max more every day...even when he's screaming I just look at him and love him to pieces!

Just to comment on your "Whether we should find out or not" I didn't out with my first one, but I did with my seond one and I thought it was much more fun to not find out. I also really enjoyed talking to you today over the web. Benjamin said to me, "Are we going to take a boat over to Germany?" I told him "No, Mom is just going to talk to Stephanie thru the computer." I'm not sure if he understood that or not.

Uncle Marv says there's much more anticipation through the birth if you are wondering who is coming out. We vote not to find out.

Definately do NOT find out. The anticipation at delivery is great. And the doctors/nurses, whoever delivers, are so excited to say "IT's a BOY" or "It's a GIRL"

My wife and I are total pro finding out the gender. We did with both of our boys. Think about the fact that if you choose not to find out, your child will probably be dressed in green and yellow for the first 3 months of their lives as everyone will have to get you gender neutral clothing.
