I have to say first that I have the best family and friends around. I had an absolutely WONDERFUL baby shower this past weekend. We did the shower over the webcam. So for about three hours Jess and I sat in front of the computer as a variety of people came by and chatted with us (oh, and opened up their gifts for me to "see"). It was a lot of fun. Several people had never used a webcam before, which was quite funny for us and hopefully amusing also for them!
So I have to mention why I called this post "Muscles". You see above the picture of Jess hoisting a baby mattress over her head. Well, Jess and I went to purchase a baby mattress on Friday afternoon. We were both surprised at how light the mattress actually was. It hardly weighed a few pounds. I was also shocked at how cheap it was ($55!). Of course, I'm a little worried that our poor child will have back problems at the tender age of two, but I'm trying to suppress those worries.
After buying the mattress, Jess and I did some grocery shopping and then went home. To help me easily get the mattress and groceries home in one stop, Jess carried the mattress in the apartment for me. She was carrying the mattress just like in the picture when we heard a HONK from a car on the street. We looked into the street, expecting to see some irritable old woman honking at some youngin' doing something wrong, but instead saw some guys in a van with huge grins on their faces. They were very impressed that little Jess (I think she's about 5 foot) was hefting what looked to be a HUGE mattress over her head. We started laughing hysterically.
If only they knew!

The mattress found its home, and I promptly found many things to store in the crib! Our stroller is right under the crib. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of another dresser drawer (it's being delivered next week) so I can store even more things away.

I bought this baby rocker thingee at a thrift shop. The baby seat had the most hideous pattern, so I bought some material and Jess' Mom sewed a new cover for the pad. I think it looks lovely. Many thanks to Patty!
