Due Date

I know that my little baby calendar thing says that I have two days until my due date, but my technical due date is actually today (December 3rd). That said, I thought I would give you a little update on "how things are going."

1. I can't sleep! My body is apparently producing enough hormones to power several women, so I lie awake during the night for hours at a time. Last night I finally gave in and just went to the living room and read a book for about an hour. When I crawled back into bed Nate was snoring away, which helped intensely with my task of falling back to sleep.

2. I had a burst of energy that could have been the "nesting" energy, but I think that it's leaving me. This past weekend I was able to walk all over the place with Nate, just like I used to. Of course, I am more lumbering than walking, but I was still able to do things. Now that I'm not really sleeping though, this energy is leaving me. And I never even got around to cleaning the house. What kind of nester am I?!!

3. I started this journey at 150 pounds. I am now hovering near the 190 mark. I think I can finally take my Dad on.

4. My BU (the distance around my belly) was at 85cm for my first midwife appointment. It is now 109cm. My SF (the distance from my pelvic bone to the top of the uterus) started at 16cm and is now at 34cm.

5. My blood pressure hovered around 100/60 for a majority of the pregnancy. Yesterday it was 125/85. I have no idea if that means something, but it was interesting for me.

6. When I was in the hospital the doctor had written the baby's heart beats per minute as 130. At my midwife appointment yesterday, it was 140bpm. Thumping away quite nicely if you ask me.

7. I was having what I thought were Braxton-Hicks contractions for quite a while. Basically whenever I would be walking around, my stomach would get really hard and heavy. If I sat down, it would go away. I apparently was just getting away easy, as now I think I am having super Braxton-Hicks contractions. My stomach turns into this super-tight ball looking thing and sometimes hurts a bit at the top. Oh, fun!!!

8. At yesterday's midwife appointment the midwife sat back and told me that she thinks that now I am "ready". She said that she believes that the baby won't come until next week, but that it will be in the perfect time for me. Sounds sweet, doesn't it?! I think it's her nice way of saying, "Ahhh, you've finally relaxed and are not a basket case about becoming a parent. It's about time!"

9. Speaking of kids... this other blog that I read sent me to this vintage kid's book website. I thought it was super cool. Check it out!

Nesting is overrated. :)

Grandpa and I are laughing at Mary's comment about nesting. I agree. One thing I can assure you; you will have a baby when the time is right. Grandpa says to tell you Grandma says "what goes in must come out". We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of your sweetheart.
