Happy 6 Week Birthday!

I had to put a couple of classic "Elena" faces up on the blog to celebrate her six-week birthday. These first six weeks have been quite the ride!

Today was my last midwife appointment. Katharina came to the house and we enjoyed chatting. She answered a few questions of mine, and then asked how things were going. I told her how the past couple of days Elena had been fighting sleep. She fights so hard that she just ends up screaming uncontrollably... all day... (sigh, and we were doing so well last week!) Katharina asked me if I had been using the Didymos. A Didymos is basically just a big, long piece of material that you can tie up in various ways to carry the baby (a baby sling). I told her how I had tried it once but Elena screamed bloody murder so I took it off.

Katharina sniffed and said that I should try again. She showed me how to better put on the Didymos and we put Elena in it (just like the picture below). She howled for a couple of minutes and then fell right to sleep. After she woke up I fed her and then slung her right back up in it. I took a walk with Jess, went grocery shopping, cooked dinner, ate dinner, gave her to Nate to give my back and shoulders a break... all with her sleeping! It was absolutely wonderful! My hands were free, I felt comfortable, and I was much more mobile (the stroller is so BIG!).

So Happy 6-weeks of life to Elena, and Happy hopefully more peaceful life for me!

Awww, what a sweetie! :) My sis-in-law Heather used her Moby wrap (basically the same thing...yards of fabric you can tie different ways) with Hannah all the time, esp. when shopping. Hannah slept quite a bit in it! The first 6-7 weeks were the hardest for me with Max...I think you've both done awesome! :D

Wow! I can't believe that she is six weeks. It definitely isn't easy being a mom, but you can do it! P.S. I am being induced Feb. 6th!

Elena looks like a real sweetie. Glad to hear she (and you) can get some sleep. Love Uncle Roger K.

Steph,
you need to add some pics to your gallery. I think those are from when we were there. I am sure you will when you get back from the Black Forrest. Love you all, Mom
