Wildlife Prairie Park

Last week Greg, Mary, Max, Nora, Tirzah, Mom, the girls, and I went to Wildlife Prairie Park for a morning. Probably the biggest hit of the day was the very long slide at the front of the park. I think I screamed the loudest going down. In my defense, it was uncommonly slippery and I was trying to balance Elena and a camera!!!! I honestly thought that we were going to shoot off the end and break a tailbone. Anyhow, I'll stop.

After going down the slide (in that last picture you aren't seeing Nora, who was smooshed behind Elena on the way down. poor child!) we drove to the animal park and walked through it. We got to see a black bear, otters, bison, elk, two foxes, and even a badger. Sadly enough the "cats" (mountain lion, and so on) were all in hiding. I think that Max was the only child old enough to actually appreciate the animals, but Nora and Elena did seem to enjoy running around in the forest.

Tirzah slept peacefully in her mother's sling, and Anni really enjoyed her first stroller ride. She was awake nearly the entire time, just staring up at the ceiling and kicking away. I love that child. So happy!!!

When the kids started to get whiny we packed it up and headed to the Flattop Grill. Surprisingly enough, I find the Flattop to be a great place for kids. You can make your own stirfry quickly, and they fry it up equally quickly and bring it to you. Kids can also get a flatbread grilled cheese if you ask, for free! Their lunch stirfries are reasonably priced if you only get one bowl. Hurrah! Yay for stirfry!

Elena got her second wind after eating and didn't end up taking a nap at all that day. Which meant a very grumpy child in the evening and early bed time. But all in all, it was a lovely day. Good times are always had with the fam.
