Long time, no post. As usual! After I returned from Honduras my dearly beloved Annika hit me in the eye and tore my cornea. She was angry, it appears, at my absence. Of course, by the time she wasn't mad anymore, I couldn't see her, as she had hit the one good eye that I have. Thankfully the eye healed within a few days and I was fine. But I'll always have that story to tell. Hey Anni, remember the time you nearly blinded your mother?!

Elena, on the other hand, was overjoyed at my returning. She snuggled with me and told me that she loved me a few million times. How is it that she's grown into an almost-four year old that doesn't nap anymore?! It's hard to believe, and yet very exciting. I love watching her step out into the world and try new things.

The girls have been spending a lot of time underneath our kitchen sink. Here's Anni saying CHEESE! They like to put on little shows while I video-tape them. As soon as the show ends, they come running, wanting to see themselves perform. One of my favorite shows was the "tap" show. I assumed that Elena was going to tap dance. Instead, she hid inside the cupboard and poked her hand out. She tapped the side of the cupboard for about 30 seconds and then emerged. Ha!

Our family has been playing hide-and-seek a lot lately. The girls love it. And thanks to the counting part, Anni is already counting to twelve. She just randomly will walk up to a wall, put her forehead against it, and start counting. She usually makes it to twelve and then starts inventing numbers, or yells COME! and starts looking for some imaginary playmate. I love it.

I never did a Thanksgiving post, so I just want to comment on how thankful I am for my husband and children. They are a joy to me, and I wouldn't change my life even if I could. We have decided to put our plans for adopting a third child on hold, maybe even a permanent hold, which has made me very sad (even though I feel like it's the right thing.) So for now I'm just holding on to what I do have. Two lovely girls and a dashing husband. I couldn't ask for more.
