On December 11, 2012, this beautiful creature turned four. Four years passed since we slipped into our little rental and drove about a mile down the road to a birthing center. Four years since I thought I was going to split in two, only to find that my body remained intact, but my heart was shattered.
Look at her!!!!! She's amazing.
We had a little party with just family. I hung streamers and banners, and balloons flew around the house. All per her request. Elena loves parties more than anyone else I know. When she was younger, she would ask me nearly every morning whose birthday it was. I'd tell her that I didn't know of anyone, but someone, somewhere was surely celebrating. She would smile and start planning the party.
Not too long after her birthday our church had its annual Christmas program. My parents and Katy came to see Elena's debut. She smiled with delight when she saw them, and waved at us constantly. We laughed a lot. Since then she hasn't stopped singing 'Angels we have heard on high', 'O Come little Children,' and 'O Come all ye Faithful." We were in Kroger a day ago and she was belting GLOoOoOoOoRIA at the top of her lungs. People smiled at her, and several commented on what a sweet child I had.
And that brings us to the New Year. Elena's ballet studio, Inspired Arts Academy, was asked to dance at the Julie K "Noon Year's Eve" celebration. The girls worked very hard on their little dances, and were really excited to perform. I was a stage Mom, and got to see first hand their nerves, and their joy when they finished. Elena, your Mom is so proud of you for performing in front of that huge crowd. You guys did so well!!!!!
Happy New Year to you all. I'd make a new Year's resolution about blogging more, but I'm most certain to break it!
