Kompressen (compresses)

WARNING: This entry contains frequent references to poop.

Our midwife brought by some Kompressen (compresses that really are just little square pieces of gauze) to help us clean out Elena's belly button. Now that the umbilical cord is gone we haven't really needed them, so they've just been sitting by the changing table.

Now my husband, not being one to waste things, came up with an ingenious plan to use up these little gauze pieces... let me tell you the story.

It was the middle of the night, a couple of nights ago, and Elena had just finished one of her super-poops. I had just finished feeding her, so I asked Nate if he could change her diaper. He agreed. I got up to use the restroom, and when I came back out I walked over the changing table.

Nate told me, bleary-eyed, that Elena had blown through her diaper into her onesie, but that he had "taken care of it." I took a look at Nate's fix-it job. The back side of Elena's onesie was covered in poo. In fact, even the outfit over her onesie was covered with that lovely yellow stain. But Nate had placed one of those little compresses against Elena's skin, between the poo and the onesie, and considered her clean enough.

Mom and I both started laughing, and I informed Nate that we most certainly needed to change her clothes. He sighed, but helped me to put her in to something new.

Good try honey.

:D That really made me laugh...there have been several times I've wished I could just do that, especially since Max HATES getting his clothes changed! If only!

I think Nate's idea sounds fine to me....better put that one up for a vote on your blog...you'll probably find out if you have more women or men readers!
