I guess I haven't posted in a while. I blame vacation. It's all vacation's fault.
We've have the most wonderful time so far. I guess we're about half way through, and it's FLOWN by. I would give you a play-by-play explanation (okay, I think you know that I lack the patience and time for that these days), but if you click on the link to Greg & Mary's blog, on the right-hand side of the page, my dear sis in law has already described a majority of the Tremont-side of the trip.
What she hasn't mentioned has probably been Elena related stuff. Elena did marvelously on the flight. It was just like a normal day in her life. She played on the floor in front of our seats, ate when she was hungry, napped when she was tired, etc. We did try to drug her up with travel medication, but it made her kind of dopey, not really tired. We might try it again... dopey isn't too bad!
It took her about a week to really adjust to central standard time, and now that we're in Seattle, she's been just fine. One weird thing was her reaction to all of the love she got in my hometown. For the first week she did well, lapped up all the attention, but in the second week she started to shrivel. I think she was just overwhelmed with all the people. She became this whiney little Momma's baby. She didn't want anything to do with anyone but ME. You can imagine how much this independent mother enjoyed the clingyness.
Once we came to Seattle and had several days with less people around, she adjusted back to her normal self. Right now she's just squawking around like usual, smiling at strangers, and letting most people hold her. I'm thrilled, as this weekend we head to Madison and both sets of Grandparents will enjoy 'normal' Elena more than whiney-Elena.
Enough of the boring stuff. The only thing I have left to comment on (which I'm sure that my Aunt Sally will enjoy) is that I found the 'diaper' bag of my dreams at REI. It's a Haiku bag. As most things at REI, Haiku bags were expensive ($70). I was very reluctant to spend that much moola on a diaper bag. Just as I was about to give up, Nate found the same bag, in an even cooler design on the sale rack. Yay! If you click on the link up above, you can see the bag's style. The design I have is different, more "asiany", but I absolutely am in LIKE with this bag. It has a ton of space, different pockets, and it looks like a normal purse. All of the bags I found at Sears/JCPenneys/etc. were so diapery. I couldn't see myself carrying them around like a purse. Maybe with the next child, I'll break down and just lose my sense of style...
I'll try to post more pics soon.
