Thursday was the day of my 31 week sonogram. Nate had a hard time getting off work, so instead I brought Elena and Mom along! The office where I go has this policy about children not coming, but I got permission to bring Elena for the big event.
I'm not sure where I heard this, but I heard someone say that their child really "understood" that Mommy was having a baby after looking at the baby on a sonogram. I was hopeful, but I really think that Elena just had fun playing with the magazines, the big comfy rocking chairs, and laying on the procedure bench. When the actual sonogram started I got a little teary eyed and she started saying "Mommy Crying" with this sad little voice. I tried to tell her that Mommy was happy (and pushed back the tears) but it pretty much went downhill from there. Mom had a hard time keeping her still and actually watching the screen.
All in all though, I'm glad that Elena came with. Someday she'll see the pictures, watch the video, and be able to tell Nika that she was there. And she was, which does count! (Oh, and on a side note, the sonogram was amazing. We got to see the face so clearly. It made me very excited to meet little N!)

3d profile shots. Poor little thing has her face smashed up against my hip bone!

2d proof that she is indeed of the female gender and a picture of her face!
